August 24, 1931 - December 24, 2014
Daniel “Dan” H. Kowalski, 83 of Temperance, MI, peacefully passed into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, December 24, 2014. Born August 24, 1931, in Toledo, OH, he was the son of Ted and Clara (Ciesielski) Kowalski. A Korean War veteran of the US Air Force, he married Mary Ann Charney on Nov. 8, 1952 in St. Stephens Catholic Church, Toledo. Dan was a dock engineer for CSX Railroad (formerly C&O Railroad) for 32 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church. Dan was a loving and caring man. He was known for being a handyman, who enjoyed fishing and hunting, but most of all loved family gatherings.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Ann. Children, Patricia Kowalski, Janet Kowalski, Josie (Terry) Holbert, Nancy (Scott) Sharp and Diane (Ken) Matuszak. Grandsons, Christopher and Kevin Holbert and Matthew Sharp. Brother, Richard J. (Mary Ann) Kowalski, Sister, Barbara (Ivan) Weyandt, Lifelong friend, Frank Dudek and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Carole Varnes.
Visitation will be private. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, 530 Regina Pkwy., Toledo, OH. at 11:00 am, where he will lie in state after 10:00 am. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. www.pawlakfuneralhome.com
